Welcome From the President

Bay Farm Montessori Academy is first and foremost about learning and growth for our young children. On the front lines of this work are the school’s teachers and administrators, who make it their daily mission to know their students and create the best possible learning environment for each of them. It is their effort, skill, and dedication that makes the school work so well for our kids from day to day.

Behind these teachers and staff, there is another, less visible line of dedicated people working hard to make Bay Farm function: the parents and members of the school community who volunteer time, energy, and resources through the Montessori Parents Association (MPA), helping out in the classrooms, organizing social and fundraising events, working with the school’s Board of Trustees, and a host of other volunteer activities.

This foundation of involvement and support from the BFMA community is crucial to the school’s success on several levels. First, childhood education at its best is a partnership between school and home; and involved and informed parents are important to the success of their children’s education. Second, the school our children benefit from today was built by the combined efforts of generations of parents, teachers, and administrators; and the future of the school depends on our support today. And finally, working with others at Bay Farm opens the door to new friendships and connections among members of our wider community, which enriches and strengthens all of us.

The words that lead off Bay Farm’s mission statement – “We work together…” – are there for a deliberate reason. Children learn and grow best in a supportive and dedicated community that includes teachers and parents. I encourage you to find the place and means by which you can join in this community. You will find an amazing group of people already working to further your children’s education, a group that will welcome you and show you how you can make a difference. You will find that you can grow and learn at Bay Farm as much as your child can (if maybe with a little less circle time): learn more about the Montessori educational system, the role of parents in building and supporting the school, and the amazing community of families behind all those fresh little faces in the classrooms. You will find that by making Bay Farm a focus of your own life, and not only a school where you drop your child off each day, you will make the most of these important and wonderful years for your entire family.

Bay Farm is a place where young children start on a path of lifelong learning. It is also a place where adults can continue their own journey of learning and growth. The children of our school, now and in the future, depend on you to be part of this. There are many ways to get involved, and the investment of your time and energy at Bay Farm will quickly provide tangible rewards. Just come by the school some time and watch the kids.
